Why video? The future of online is video marketing.

I know that you’ve all seen it. It’s been all over your Facebook newsfeed, it’s been on the blogs that you’ve been reading, the Kickstarter campaigns and the apps you’re downloading. Video is literally everywhere, but why? And why do I keep watching it?
The real reason why video is having such rapid growth is because people are lazy. Now don’t get me wrong, I don’t mean that in a bad way. I am most definitely included in that group of “lazy people”. Maybe laziness is the wrong word, maybe people are busy. We simply do not have the time to read every article and research products to gain a better understanding. This is the reason that video is increasing in popularity, it is quicker, easier and more informative than any other medium.
So that’s why consumers want it, now why does your business want it. Well, in actual fact, video is a far more memorable form of communication that any else. Studies have shown that people are able to retain 20% of the information they hear and 30% of the information that they see. But when combined, individuals are able to remember 70% of what they see and hear. This level of memorability is having a huge effect on consumer purchasing behaviour. 73% of U.S adults are more likely to make a purchase after watching an online video about a product or service.
There are so many reasons why video is just a perfect match for businesses. Unlike an article, where you will never know what part of the post that your consumer stopped reading or which part they had to read a few times, video gives you all the data you could ever wish for. You can see how many people watch it, which parts they get bored at, which parts get the most views, whether it gets click throughs, you name it! Video also increases your social and SEO presence as giants like Facebook and Google know the importance of video and play favourites with those who use it correctly!
Oh, and if you still don’t believe me that video is dominating, just sit on the idea that YouTube has more than one billion unique visitors every month. Yes I said one billion, and yes I said unique.
All business should by now be creating content using video, the evidence is undeniable. It is engaging, interesting, more memorable, and highly measurable and will increase your social and SEO rankings. Video content is only going to keep increasing, according to Cisco, video will account for 69% of all consumer internet traffic by 2017 – pssst…. Don’t get left behind!
